Fall dove

Four hours on the stool

Glare from trucks in the distance

Dust from the sunburnt corn

Rust from the red clay

In my hands

Sun beating down

On the fall day

Low bird, don’t shoot

Football on the radio

Dogs out runnin

Grasshoppers chompin

Dads slapping ass

Kids kicking ass

Can we go explore now

Ride the horizon high

Skippin the holler tow

Low bird, don’t shoot

Raise em guns to the sky

Bare down on them birds

Lead them good

Some end in a tumble

Some in a puff of feathers

Stay under the limit

Or the man will get you

Work on your farmers tan

Low bird, don’t shoot

Creeks an meadows

Hills valleys an shadows

As far as a boy

Can wander

Lizards snakes crawfish

turtles frogs an crickets

Turn over rocks

Check under stumps

Watch for mr no shoulders

Low bird, don’t shoot
